Records, Posters, Living In A Basement

I've been living without a receiver and speakers for my record player.

It sucks. Until today.

I rigged my baby Dinosaur amp (it's something, don't worry) with a couple AV cables and ... well blah blah, I have it working and it sounds pretty decent. A bit mono but better than not being able to listen to my vinyls. Because, I need the vinyls sometimes.

Anyway, this has nothing to do with hockey. But while I was moving around shit in my parents basement (where I live, yes) looking for more AV cables (because any normal basement has those lying around) I found an old Detroit Red Wings poster: "Hockeytown Kids." I remember I got it from a 2001-02 playoff game. It pictures Chris Chelios, Steve Yzerman, Nick Lidstrom, Dominik Hasek, Brendan Shanahan, Sergei Fedorov, Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille. The "kids" of Hockeytown, get it?

Yeah, well that team was just voted by Sporting News readers as the "greatest NHL team of all time."

But honestly, we all know the greatest team was the New York Islanders of the early 80s. However, it's 2011 and there are no more Islanders fans left (sober).

This poster was a real diamond in the rough. I think they handed it out during the playoffs. I went to one of those Vancouver games the Wings lost in the opening round, if I recall. I will have to search for the ticket to make sure I am not going crazy and just imagining things.

It might have just been a regular season game against the Canucks, I honestly can't recall. That was almost 10 years ago. Damn.

Anyway, I'll go back to playing these dusty records. They survived the trek from California, so I can't complain about anything ever.
